"Hundreds of thousands" protesting. 6,000 arrests so far. (Says ABC News, U.S. Which leaves out a young person deliberately blinded in one eye, shot by police, another loses a hand reaching for a police explosive device shot at protesters.)
85% of those arrested
are schoolchildren. The protests are prompted by years of decayed school
buildings and understaffing so bad that there is now an uprising by
huge numbers of students.
Criminal neglect of the educational system?
What do you expect from a country ruled by a rich financial speculator,
a hustler who has never contributed anything to society, Emmanuel
Macron?Of course he has accomplices. Such a person could never become
president without the support of various elites, sections of the media
and other power segments of society.
There was one time when
this egotist Macron ate shit with a hapless grin on his face: when
Trump, in front of the media, ostentatiously pretended to pick dandruff
off Macron's suit while loudly describing there was dandruff there. Says
something about both Trump, who degrades and abuses people to establish
and maintain psychological dominance, and Macron, who bent to the power
relationship of the U.S. vis-a-vis France. France, indeed all of
Europe, bows to the U.S.
But do they really have to? What is
the damn point of the EU if its various nations STILL act so WEAK?
Shouldn't the alleged unity result in greater power?
It
should. Maybe old habits of subordination die hard. And to think of all
those years of propaganda about how the Soviet Union "subjugated" the
states that were in its orbit, until it all fell apart.
I hope I live
long enough to see the day when this other evil empire collapses and
the remnants are swept into the dustbin of history.
There he is, holding his hands like a little schoolboy while Trump humiliates him in front of the world's gaze. Eat Shit Macron!

Recent details of the uprising in France, mainly by students, from democracynow.org:
"In France, more than 250,000 people marched in over 40 French cities Tuesday. It was the largest turnout yet in demonstrations that began more than two weeks ago, when high school students started blockading their schools. The students are protesting staff shortages, crowded classrooms and run-down buildings. Labor unions joined in support, along with parents, teachers and university students. Paris had the biggest march — about 56,000 people, according to the Interior Ministry. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said at least 215 teenagers and 85 school staff have been hurt in clashes with the police, calling it “the heaviest toll in decades paid by the school system.” This is a middle school science teacher in Strasbourg."
